Do You Remember Them?

Gatherings, dances, BBQs, smiles of grannies, giggles of young gals, cries of babies..and the list goes on. Festive season brings out the best in us. We never fail to greet those we stumble upon -be it in the shopping complex, banks, neighborhood, college or even school. We hold a smile across the face greeting strangers. We invite your colleagues, coursemates, neighbor's, customers, uncles and aunts to our open house. But there is something we overlook (or pretend to overlook) all the time. Those who were with us at each stage of life but now has disappear to nowhere.

Can you still recognize your childhood boyfriend? Remember the gal who cries at every instance you take her pencil away but still wanna sit besides you in the kindy? Can you remember the primary school teacher who caringly put iodine on your wound that you got after a fight with a fellow student? Remember the uncle who drives the school bus, patiently awaited for you while you frantically get dressed to school? Do you still think of cousin(s) who happened to be your best buddies when you were growing up but now have settled down elsewhere? Do you know what happened to your primary school close buddy who tied knot few years ago? Wondered what is your highschool sweetheart is doing now? Remember the mysterious guy who always calls up every evening to make sure you have reached home safely after school? What is your favorite History teacher is doing now? College life holds the best memories (some say). Still in touch with all your roomies? How about the coursemates who always stick around you for each assignment? Any idea what happened to the tall hunk who happens to sit behind you in Environmental Science lectures?

Ever wondered any of these people on Deepavali Day (or any other festival/important days)? We, human, have very short memory unfortunately. We tend to forget the past when stunned by exciting present. But past is what holds the present and present holds your future. I'm awed at my abilities to 'forget' those who were so special for me at different stages of my life. I can still remember how dependent I was to all these people. At that point of time, it was almost impossible to live a day without them but as time goes by, they are replaced by new bonds. But did we meet them to eventually forget their existence?

I do remember those special guys of the past. Not just on special days, but all the time when mind takes back me in time machine.

We don't meet people just to forgot about them eventually. There is a solid reason behind anything and everything that happens. I believe the reason is Destiny.

How are you dear?

I believe....with time u meet new people and then as life goes by, we tend to forget people we once dealt with...

its not possible to keep in touch all the time or update them about everything....but yes, festivals are meant to remember those good people :)

Belated Diwali wishes to you too sweetie...take care...hugzzz

I think humans are meant to pass on, to move on and meet new people because god wants us to enjoy and cherish everyone one of his creation.

The mind of a human as he face a world rushing towards him is extremely chaotic, hence he will choose an alternative where he meets people new who are equipped with the best tools that could help him.

A true deep friendship and relationship must be kept to the heart either by death or by marriage.,

I do remember all (sorry, not all... but almost all) who touched my being in some way or the other... nah... not during festivals but other times when my time machine is in the reverse-gear

maybe we have been taught to move ahead so we dont look back or strain ourself memorize our past... but looking back and wondering how everything has changed is FUN.

After my schooling I never met any new friends or intro to any new person, even I dint have any touch with my school friend and neighbor friends in my life, and no guess what they are doing now. I still remember each and every one who are close with me on those days, but I don’t know if they really remember me not. Some of the cousins whom I love to spent times and played and chatted for hours in a stage are not at all interested to being with me now. I was only found new friends from blogging, think this is the world I am very happy by sharing. Nice post pa:)

hmmm.. debatable. of course, we can't keep in touch with everyone. but remember those who used to b vital part of our life. shouldnt we keep in touch with them?

lolz. bad boi :P

@ gp

yea. we got to move on. we meet new ppl all the time. but does that justify why we should forget those we already knew?
