[ORIGINAL POST]

I was going through the google reader, and Poobalan's post on a temple demolition caught my eyes. Seems like we just got our early Deepavali gift from the authorities! Malaysian Hindu Sangam issued a press statement, I wonder if it is actually going to appear in any of our national newspapers. This is definitely not the first time such incident happens, and I am very sure this is not going to be the last. As I am typing this, there might be another place of worship being demolished somewhere out there.

Is there anything we could do to stop them?

things are not getting better despite many raising voices of despair. The govn. doesnt even care anymore...*sigh*

quote i copied from Patrick's blog ...

"I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you've got to get mad. You've got to say, "I'm a HUMAN BEING, Goddamnit! My life has VALUE!" So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!" (Howard Beale in NETWORK <1976>)

Vote any party as long as not BN!

@ k

voting for opposition may not going to topple a huge alliance like BN, but it definitely will send a strong message to them. only if everyone thinks like us... *sigh!

@ keshi

no idea keshi. historically, indians (hindus) are estate workers and they build temples in the estate vicinity or neighbouring pieces of land. however, when the estates were sold to developers, these workers are forced to move out leaving behind the temples they initially build. nevertheless, they keep coming back to pray in these temples. these are not huge temples which generate 'money' like some in India or even in Malaysia. They are smaller temples meant as a place of worship for poorer Hindus. Of course, the temples have been there since before Independence (in this case, 100yrs) but the authorities claim the temples are illegally occupying the developers (in some cases, gov land). The next thing you know - they are demolished. Sadly sometimes, the deities are demolished together.

*will check out the post soon, dear!
