Genting Highlands & Nostalgic Friday - 10

Been a couple of days since I came back from Genting Highlands , our every own Las Vegas and only today I had the time to finish editing all the photos I took there.

We left KL Sentral around 3pm and checked in our hotel (which deemed to be the largest hotel in the world) around 5pm. Not bad for a Sunday trip I guess. Too tired to do anything else and me with gastric pain had no choice but to rest till the sun sets and then roam around the Indoor Theme Park. Eh.. and I took a peek at the casino over there...man, its unbelievable number of people toying with numbers in there! pheewww! Tired and sicky, I went to sleep quite early after a short walk around the hotel.

Next day was THE DAY! hahahaha.. The day for us to enjoy ourselves. Too bad that it was too cold & misty. Its the Outdoor Theme Park's policy to shut down few games if it gets too misty. Anyway, we did enjoyed ourselves the whole day despite some minor glitches to the plan.

The following day, we happily packed our bags and leave to KL.

Thats the short description of my kutty trip and besides the collage up there, you may find the rest of the photos in my flickr.

Bloggers Buff 2007

Ah..feel so good to be back in my office (and blogging!). I came back from my trip yesterday and it was quite refreshing. Have not edited the photos yet and probably I can get it up by Friday. So for today, let me introduce a bloggers event we are conducting right here in Kuala Lumpur!

What: Bloggers Buff 2007 is a workshop cum forum organized to gather Malaysian bloggers from different genres together to network and explore various issues and aspects of blogging. When : Sunday, 8th July 2007( 8.30am – 5.30pm) Where :Dewan Dato’ Haji Sidek, Jalan Kg Attap, K.Lumpur

Thats right! We are conducting a blogger workshop!!! Oh no! We are not going to 'teach' you how to blog.. I know you guys are pro at it ;). So what do we intend to do?

# To create a good network of Malaysian bloggers of different genres.
# To alienate fears and negative perception of blogs in mainstream print media.
# To promote blogging as a hobby and as a potential income generator.
# To promote blogging as a medium to exchange information.

Now.. its all about networking and promoting blog as vital and most happening medium of communication for today's world!

I just can't remember when we came up with this idea to conduct such ambitious project.. but the credits goes to the whole team - Mahendran, the gentleman who is chairing the commitee & commitee members; P Kamalanathan, Praveen, Puvanan and yours truly.

This is a blogging event organized by bloggers for bloggers regardless genre, gender or race, and I am counting on you guys to make it a hit!

Okie now..I know you are all geared up and wants to know more about this event. All you have to do is to visit Bloggers Buff 2007, read through our welcome post and tentative event schedule. IF you think this is for you, get yourself registered by completing the registration form. Let me emphasis here - all participants need to pre-register themselves and NO walk-in blogger will be entertained that day. Don't tell me I didn't warn you! ;)

Last but not the least, please kindly spread the word around by putting up the promo badge which was done by one of our bloggers, Saravanan in support of this event & linking it back to Bloggers Buff 2007.

where was I?

Training myself to be resistant to burning hot sun - seriously :P

For two weeks I was off to the rural parts of Selangor & Perak conducting a pilot study of the project I am working on. There was no access to Internet and even my phone line was gone in couple of locations! Man.. that meant I was totally cut off from my world! It was expected anyway. The two weeks stint left me sick, frustrated and sun-burned! :(

I spent few days in 3 different places - a private estate; Malay settlement; fishing island (yes its an island!). This is just the beginning of lot more scenarios I am going to see and believe me... its hell of a world out there!

First was the estate where you find Indians as the majority. The serene picture below was taken in the estate which I can't name (professional ethics ;)). Its a clean place where you find a lot of kids running around. Yes - you find kids whom you can feel in love with immediately... kids who are struggling to be a part of today's world but failing each time they are trying :(. I can't describe more about them at the moment. My hands are tied, but my mind keep thinking about these kids. You will see a different world here.

The second place we visited was a Malay settlement area. You can see the typical Malay wooden house below. Its a huge settlement with about 600 households, and each of the household has their own land! A sharp contrast from the earlier estate which we visited few days before this.

We got pretty bored in the Malay settlement and decided to take a break during lunch hour venturing to a hot spring park nearby :P The photo showing one of the man-made hot spring waterfall in the park.

The third visit was to a fishing island. Thats the worse experience we had, and thats the smelliest island you can ever find! I expected the place to be a chaos and didn't bring my digicam there. Thank goodness we were not required to stay longer in that place. Phhewwww! I will be going off again in July & Aug to similar places and this time I will stock more sun-block lotion!

I have been missing everyone tremendously. I miss visiting everyone's 'home' as well. Damn! I wish I have 30 hours a day!!! :| I am trying to be consistent in my blogging and blog-hopping here but my work schedule is conspiring against me! Hehehehehe... Anyway, on Sunday I will be off for a short trip with family and will be back on Tuesday. See you guys again next week. Have a wonderful weekend!

Wedding bells & Nostalgic Friday - 9

Couple of posts crammed into one. Please bear with me..

Our Prime Minister is getting married to this lovely-looking lady Jeanne Abdullah (pic below) tomorrow. News of their wedding is the talk of the town, although he insisted its going to be a small private affair.
It has been more than a year since he lost his wife, Kak Endon to breast cancer and less than a year since he lost his mother. Guess its high time he needs a woman in his life. Quoting him "a woman completes a man" ;).

And guess what? Tomorrow is my parents' 28th wedding anniversary! The pic below taken during their 25th wedding anniversary. It was a grand affair organized by sis & I. We managed to keep it as a surprise till the very last minute. May be we can organize one for their 30th anniversary! :P

Nothing much to say about this video, its a much publicized song in 90s and I'm just speechless at the moment..

Movie: Minasara Kanavu
Song: Vennilave vennilave

I will be off from tomorrow onwards. I am not sure when I will find time to come back to blogworld. Till then, lots of muuaxxxxxxxxxxiieeee & hugggggggggggggggggggggssss from me :P

A Tribute : Sampaikan Salamku

to Loga of the evergreen Alleycats.

I grew up watching this band performing wonderful Malay & Tamil tracks. Today, one of the key members of the band has left us forever. Death is inevitable but Loga's passing is definitely not something his fans could accept easily. Unfortunately, this tribute to him marks my return to the blogworld after a short (but hectic) break.

Sad day indeed.
