Continuing story about my trip to Bangkok..
Day 8 saw me taking a half day tour-guided trip to the Royal Grand Palace & Temple of Emerald Buddha. It was a good thing as I was unable to arrange trip on my own because of my tight schedule. Both located in the same area, which is huge!! I think we spent about 3 hours there, but I still don't feel satisfied :-)
You may want to read about the Royal Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha in wiki. Here, I'm sharing some photos..

Golden Stupa

A mystical animal-woman.. she is more like a guardian of the temple.

Posing on a golden stupa. Love the background!

This Buddha meant to be offered with golden leaves. It's a thin gold tissue. Interesting..

This is what you see around the Temple of Emerald Buddha. No camera was allowed beyond this point.

The Emerald Buddha is not a huge statue, but it's just around 1/2 meters in height. As no photos allowed inside the temple, I had to took a snap of the photo my tour guide was holding. The Buddha will be dressed (in gold) according to season and only the King could change the clothing. It's held as a ceremony there.
The details of the cravings here are very intrinsic and interesting. It's a pity that I couldn't spend a little bit more time there. Nevertheless, I was feel good that at least I get to see the place once.
