A break

I have tonnes of stuff to write in this space, lots of new happening to be shared with you all. It's a shame that I have neither the time nor a stable Internet connection to do that at the moment.

I'll be offline at least till Monday. See you all then.

When the men scot-free..

Case 1

You are fast asleep in the privacy of your bedroom. Photos and video of you sleeping started to circulate in the Net. Your ex-boy friend might be behind this. Oh yea. I forgot to mention.. you were sleeping semi-nude. And you are a state assemblywoman who is well-liked by your constituents.

Read more here.

Case 2

You are a foreigner working here as a maid. You got raped by your boss's nephew, got pregnant and even discreetly delivered the baby. Again.. I forgot to mention that you 'accidentally' killed the baby and throw the body into a rubbish bin fearing that your boss gonna find out about the baby. Now you are in jail paying the price.

Read more here.

You may have your judgements on these two cases but I have only 1 question - Where are the men who are responsible for these 2 cases?

In the first case (maybe due to public outcry), the police has decided to summon the ex-beau who were alleged to take the photos and released them to public without her consent. But the damage already done - the scoundrel, whoever he is, has achieved his objective - she has been embarrassed and has offered to relinquish all her official posts. All of her political enemies are waiting for another by-election to be announced. The government controlled media is playing the new to the maximum, comparing her case with old cases of sex scandal when it is clearly a sexual harassment and she is the victim. So much for the freedom of the press!

In the second case, he has vanished! The judge, based on the newspaper report, gave her a long lecture on compassion and love for a child and blah blah blah. But can she solely be blamed for what she did? Where is the father of the baby? Doesn't he share the burden? I am surely no mother would happily kill her child and then dump the body in rubbish bin! He scot-free from the crime, while she is put behind the bars?

Now, can I be blamed standing up for these women?

Thaipusam 2009

Been a while since I really get into Thaipusam mood. Last year I didn't pay a visit to Batu Caves during Thaipusam, only went there during the MIB's photoshoot event. So, this year when the LOL gang (read: a group of crazy friends) planned a visit to Batu Caves Thaipusam, I jumped at the opportunity.

The chronology of my visit:

Thaipusam eve - 5.00pm:
Thaipusam 2009 - Ritual by the riverside
A family preparing for prayers by the riverbank. We spent a considerable time by the river, watching and photographing devotees' preparation of their journey to Batu Caves main temple.

Thaipusam eve - 7.00pm:
Thaipusam 2009 - Batu Caves
It was around 7 - 7.30pm when we entered the main temple compound. But that was not before we stuffed ourselves with delicious anathanam food and lots of mooru :P

Thaipusam eve - 8.30pm:
Thaipusam 2009 - Chariot
We were walking around the 'shopping area' when I spotted the silver chariot which has just completed a 12-hour journey from Sri Mahamariamman Temple in Jalan Tun HS Lee to Batu Caves. We caught up with Selian and spent some time taking photographs of the devotees making their way to the cave. Then we watched the fireworks at midnight and had another round of anathanam food at Divine Life Ashramam before walking to our hotel room which was generously 'donated' to the gals (hehehehe..)

Thaipusam - 6.00am:
Thaipusam 2009 - Morning bath
I think I had about 2 hours of sleep (Sundra has none though :P) before embarking to Batu Caves for another round of photography. We went back to the riverbank and this time the crowd was huge! The numbers of photographers were amazing as well and I even overheard one of the photographers saying that they might have outnumbered the number of kavadis!

Thaipusam - 8.00am:
Thaipusam 2009 - Kavadi
We are still at the riverbank, and THIS is my fav kavadi. Nothing excessive but it set the mood!

Thaipusam 2009
An usual scene at Batu Caves at this time around.

Thaipusam - 10.00am:
Thaipusam 2009
The sun has started to blaze hot by this time. We decided to call it a day as our system started to slow down, possibly because of lack of rest.

Thaipusam - 10.30am:
Thaipusam 2009 - The gang
It isn't fair if I don't tell you guys who are the 'we' I am talking about through out the post right? Here is my loving LOL gang - (from your right) : Sundra, Raaja, Yoges, Puvanan & Selian.

I had an amazing Thaipusam this year. 2010 may see another happening Thaipusam journey to another exciting location in Malaysia! Wait for it!! :-)

Nostalgic Friday 64

It's time for Thaipusam again and I don't think any other country would be as hyped as Malaysia for the annual celebration. Apart from the disturbing death of A.Kugan, the entertaining Perak fiasco and unpredictable weather, we are all okay here - anticipating one of the most colourful event in Malaysian festival calendar.

I'll be there (maybe) on Saturday and (surely) on Sunday evenings. Anyone interested to tag along? ;-)

And this week's nostalgic song:

Movie: Kalaingan
Song: Enthan nenjil

What's wrong with my blogging tone?

Chumma Talk: Looking forward to a hectic February.. Some times it's good to be busy.

***

New readers and blogmates (defined here as those who started to read tulipspeaks less than 12 months ago), maybe clueless but those who have been following my blog for more than a year would have noticed the change of my blogging style/tone. Why is that so?

I used to be bitter. I mean really bitter. I was used to be surrounded by everything negative, and I lamented about every other thing in my blog. I used to complain and find fault in everything that surrounds me, and I enjoyed doing it. Usually men are my target and I can't believe I hate them so much! *ish! Sorry guys but at that point I would have hated the very last man standing on earth. And my blog posts were the evidence. Yea, it's either that or some random sentimental poems which I wrote while my tears came running down.

Thinking back.. maybe I shouldn't have sound so bitter but that how my life was and I am glad it's all in past tense now. Slowly I regained my life, my smile and my freedom. Hence, the lighter posts replaced the hostile ones and now you get to see photos like this in my blog:

Girl, one of my pet dog :)

Guess my current blogging tone is here to stay.
