Prambanan was built around the same time as Sambisari (9th Century) and dedicated to Thirumoorthy - Lord Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva. It was an amazing experience to find three of Them at the same compound. Gave me goosebumps at times. It was unfortunate that the temple was damaged in 2006 earthquake. Currentlu restoration is under progress and Shiva temple is closed to public.
Nevertheless, a World Heritage, Prambanan is the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia and one of the largest in this region. Hinduism at its best! ;-)

Prambanan from far.

And near.

Felt awesome standing there

Lord Vishnu @ Prambanan. Noted the crack that split the statue?
After spending few hours at Prambanan, we traveled to Ratu Boko's Palace, not so far from Prambanan. As the name suggests, this is not a temple/candi but a palace (also known as Kraton Ratu Boko). We were too exhausted by the time we reach here, so confined our walk to the main area of the palace ruins.

This place was scenic!! Loved it!

Beautiful sunset.

View from Ratu Boko.
We ended our Day 1 trip here. Next will be Day 2 trip to Borobodur - another World Heritage site, Candi Mendut, Ketep Pass and Gedong Songo.
