Nostalgic Friday - 24

Friday, November 30, 2007

Alagiya Tamil Magan or in short, ATM is Vijay's Deepavali offering. Defying logic and rational thinking, ATM is said to be the leader of Tamil movies released for Deepavali. May be I was expecting too much, but I was quite disappointed of the movie. I will not dwell on the story, but just going to highlight the short comings:

1. Double hero - one an athlete and another a criminal. Though it was good to see 'unrelated' Vijay (unlike Godfather, where in the end you have 3 Ajits all related to each other!), I think its time Tamil cinema industry move away from this double role syndrome. They are overdoing it!

2. Namitha - she 'killed' the Maryln Monroe song! Can't they find a woman with a normal body shape proportion? I think it was a competition between Shreeya & her on who could show more flesh!

3. Shreeya - I never liked her. Enough said.

4. Visualization of the songs -Songs were great, but the visualization didn't do justice to AR Rahman's work. Too bad!

5. Villain to turn new leaf - He had probably spend the last 15 years of his life cheating people. How could a person like that turned new leaf after listening to 40 sec speech by a girl? :S

Verdict: 6.0/10.0 (markah kesian!)

Song: Ponmagal vanthal(remix by AR Rahman)

Hindi remix (Bluffmaster)

I think the guy who did the Hindi remix of Abishek Bachan for the Tamil movie did a wonderful job! It's real fun to watch. Check it out!

Naana Neeya Album: A Review

Tuesday, August 07, 2007

Now that I am back (for now), lets go into the.....blogging-mode!!!! :P

Naana Neeya: The Movie Soundtrack

Officially launched on 9th June 2007 during the Global Indian Shopping Festival in Midvalley, Naana Neeya audio album definitely has caught attention of local fans. I don't know about the movie as yet, but the audio seems to be making waves here in Malaysia.

Personally I am not inclined to 'love' or even to listen to most of the locally produced albums. Now, don't give me that wicked look. Its not that I am not supporting local music scene, its just that not ALL are good production and worth my time listening. However, voted among the top 3 local songs in Malaysian TopTen in THR Raaga (local Tamil station), the title track Naana Neeya sung by Vizz Da Blizz & MC Loga, is one my current fav. I don't know if they actually knew most of you guys not going to understand it in Tamil. They actually have the English and Malay version of the hit song as well!!. You may want to listen to the sample here:

P/S: you may have difficulty listening via odeo. God knows why the site always down! Grrrr!! Anyway, pls head to NaaanNeeya's official site to listen to the sample songs.

One thing that amazes not only me, but lot of people out there is the ability of children nowadays to pull extraordinary feat. I read in the newspaper about Galven, a young golfer who made Malaysia proud. On the other hand, Vizz Da Blizz is a young talent in the music industry who definitely gonna make (or is it already made) us proud :) At just 12, he has created history as the youngest Malaysian Indian to sing solo in a local album. Definitely not an easy feat.

Vizz Da Blizz

Found their promo video in Youtube. Just a sample video of 2mins, but I think its good enough to highlight the quality of the album.

The team also performed as guest artist in a local singing competition.

There are a lot of info, especially on latest news surrounding the album in their official website. Besides, you get to listen to the rest of the sample songs, view the movie trailer and download the song lyrics as well. You may e-mail them (dharma@cresendoproductions.com) for more info.

Mr Novinthen (Cyberjaya, Puchong, Kelana Jaya) - 012 57 44 22 7

I know most of you guys love music. Now I let you guys to make your own judgement of the sample songs given. What is your opinion of the artistes and the whole album? Everyone entitles to their own opinion and that is something I always believe. You may want to accept what I have said so far or come up with an entirely different opinion, but the best commentator will receive a special gift from the producers of Naana Neeya. So start typing it, guys!

Updates on Bloggers Buff 2007 & "white" Sivaji

Monday, July 02, 2007

Hey guys.. Rames did us a favour by creating a poster for Bloggers Buff 2007. Check it out! Cool stuff!
And don't forget to register by this Thursday!

***

I have read soooooooooooo many reviews about Sivaji - The Boss that I have decided NOT to write a review on it. Ah.. that doesn't mean it was not a cool movie. A pure entertainer! Director Shanker being "Director Shanker" never failed to highlight the use of technology in his movies. In this particular song, Rajini was basically transformed into 'someone' else :p How was it done? Watch the making of oru kuudai sunlight here:

he is my PIRATE

Monday, May 28, 2007

Pirates of the Caribbean III - I don't know about others, but I had a good time watching my pirate last Saturday ;) Was looking forward the sequel ever since I got to know it will be released on the 24th.

Now.. POC3 or Spidey3? Personally, Spiderman never my fav superhero and of course I am not justifying that Capt. Jack is a superhero. Its just that in my comparison, I love Capt. Jack's character more than Spidey. Witty, cunning, carefree and smart! The special effects were good. Worth watching.

Rating - 7.5/10

Sunday, I attended another wedding function. Okie.. I know I have been attending 'too many' weddings lately - but who cares if the food is good? :P kekekeke.. kidding! It was Rames brother's wedding, and Mahen, Anitha and I were there. And I am still imagining Rames's fashionable footwear!

I am taking a short break - probably for a week. Gonna change the concept of nutritoday. For those who don't know, nutritoday is a poorly updated blog of mine :P . Besides, I have some other work in line. Will tell you guys about it from time to time. Got to update BUF before I go disappear from the radar!

Because of you

Monday, April 16, 2007

No, its nothing like what you are thinking. Its a movie title (Tamil = Unnale Unnale). A typical Karan Johar's style romantic flick, with Melbourne as its backdrop. Mahen dislikes it, I think he hates it. Brother likes it. Sis and I think its exaggerated. You may want to read the movie review here, my post is going to be strictly on the characters involved.

Simply put...The hero, Kartik, a carefree and supposely handsome guy who receives alot of attention. The heroine, Jansi, a matured and serious (they say over-reacting/over-sensitive) woman. And the second heroine, Deepika (played by Kajol's sister), basically a kiddo. So now, K & J broke up because of their differences, and J went off to Melbourne. K has no idea where she is, and of course doesn't look like he is looking for her. Fate sends K to Mel and he meets D in the plane. They become frens and later K saw J in Mel & D is actually J's colleague. K tries to win J's heart again, but ends up in D's arm instead. And in the end, J leaves Mel (again) for Sydney, thinking that D is the best choice for K. Oh yea, and K marries D. J stays single in Sydney.

Assuming you are still sane with all these alphabets, don't you think the whole story is pathetic? I mean.. for one, no two living things are hundred percent alike in this world, save for clones. Of course you gonna face messy fights and turmoil in relationship. Fairytale relationship do not exist.

Two
, K is not a 'totally' innocent fella. Any girlfriend who is serious and committed to the relationship would react the same way J did if her boyfriend is caught cheating. What if J did what K did? Won't K react the same way?

Three
, why didn't he look for her when she left India? Why he completely forgot her and only 'thought' of all the sweet memories when he saw her again? What if he never sees her? Will he stay single because he loves her and only her (like he claims)?

Four, why should J leaves all the time? *sigghhhhh..and why would they end the story with V marrying D, but J stays single with some stupid memories? why can't they give some hope to people in same shoes like J? hope that they will made somebody who thinks in the same wavelength like them? :| Are they trying to say that if you don't wanna compromise, you will have to stay single and grow old in the home alone?

Its just a boring movie. But looking beyond the screen, I see an imbalance between the characters and an unfair treatment to J.

Verdict:
Kartik (played by Vinay) is not THAT handsome. Certainly not my type :P The only plus will be the songs, although they came too often disrupting the story.
Watch only if you can digest the ending.

Sillendru Oru Kathal

Wednesday, September 13, 2006

A movie I have been waiting for ever since I saw the news about it. I don't want to sound like a movie columnist, so let me summarize it (espl for my non-Tamil speaking buddies) in a para. But I'm warning those who haven't watch the movie, this may be a spoiler :p read on your own risk.

Gautham (played by Surya..do i see praveen drooling? hahaha) married Kunthavi (Jothika) and the story began from that point. Fast forwarding the story 6 years later, their arranged marriage seems to have changed Kunthavi's perception that only love marriage would bring happiness. Blessed with a cute looking daughter, the marriage was the loviest thing you may find on earth :). May be until, Kunthavi find her husband's old diary describing his college life and his previous gf (wife), Aishu. Interesting to see Kunthavi tracking down Aishu and arranging them to meet for a day.

I'll stop the story here and let u be the judge how u wanna end it. Anyway, I do suggest you to listen to the songs by AR Rahman. They were awesome ;)

Whats so special and different about this movie? Its the approach to a delicate situation, i must say. What would you do when you find out about your partner's previous relationship - be it a fling, an affair, a serious relationship or in this case, a marriage? Kunthavi handled it well, with maturity. Gautham made sense with his decision in the end. But this is a movie, where we, the audience always want a perfect ending. What if its in real life? How would we react?

****

My best wishes to the newly-wed couple Surya and Jothika who tied the knot on 11th September. I guess I'm among the very few who is genuinely happy to see them together. A man who leads his lady love to marriage always wins my adoration. And I respect this man who stood by her all this years. They might not come across this post, yet I believe my wishes will reach them no matter what. God bless.

Da Vinci Code - The Movie

Friday, May 19, 2006

There was not a huge crowd at the cinema today, considering Da Vinci Code (watch the trailer) has just been released the earlier night. I was wondering if this is a sign that Da Vinci Code (DVC) might be a let-down. Well, may be it was.. a little ;)

Prady has already warned me against watching the movie. He felt that the content of the book by Dan Brown will be diluted. After watching it, I couldn't agree more. Some essential parts have been omitted and storyline has been change a little. Dan Brown has gone into great length explaining and expressing each and every detail. I'm disappointed that Ron Howard couldn't do the same. Each character mentioned in the fact-fiction novel, failed to be developed fully by Howard.

I don't wanna go into details, it will spoil your anticipation (for those haven't read the book/watch the movie). Yet, I would say DVC-the book should be read first in order to understand and to appreciate DVC-the movie. After all, a visit to Lourve (especially when Robert Langdon pays his last visit to the inverted pyramid), Sir Isaac Newtoon's tomb in Webminster Abbey, Temple Church and Rosslyn Chapel- all within 2 1/2 hours and at the cost of RM9.00 is worth it.

My verdict: Prady was right.

As compassionate as a KING KONG

Wednesday, December 21, 2005

This was the toughest effort i had to put forward to watch a movie..ggezzz..all tickets in all cinema theatre in and around Kuala Lumpur were fully booked and collected right on time! this time, i had to buy the tickets 2 days earlier, and even then..i only got the seats 5 rows from the front..

But, it was a movie worth watching..not for the astounding direction of Peter Jackson..not for the flawless beauty of Naomi Watts (Ann Darrow)..not for the amazing graphics..but for the compassion shown by KingKong..

It might be just a fake, computer animated, ugly looking giant gorilla..yet, the love it had for Ann was so beautifully revealed..without a word spoken..Although many would be thinking it may not be wise to compare human's emotions with a computer generated gorilla, i can't help myself but to think how many of us actually pouring out our love or even showing a glitter of hope to the one we love? or so to say..to the one who loves us?

Carl Denham (played by Jack Black) was a classical example of a selfish human..who thinks of personal gain right from the beginning till the end..and many of us are actually belongs to this category..thinking of what we will gain, what benefit we will get from everything that we do..nothing on others' feelings or others' life for that matters..

In my opinion, the most pathetic character of the movie will be Jack Driscoll (played by Adrien Brody)..ggeezzz...is it so hard to say you love the girl?? damn..at times i feel he is no different from the Kong which unable to express its feelings in words..

In short, its really worth my bucks (RM9) and time (3hrs 8 mins)..catch the Kong fast before it catches you..

[GhaJini]

Tuesday, October 04, 2005

With a heavy heart, i went to watch Ghajini (Tamil), with some hope it will cheer me up..watch the movie trailer HERE

Ghajini..Surya's latest flick with different kind of story line...Asin looks stunning in this (although we do hope Jothika will appear along her real life beau, Surya :P)..Nayanthra, a gorgeous medical student (ah..do i see z000nie drooling??) who looks entirely different from her previous movies (Ayya & Chandramukhi)..surely a movie that Tamil speaking fans shouldn't miss..

Sanjay Ramasamy (Surya) suffers from short term memory loss after he was bashed up by the villains. All he can remembers is the incidence where his girlfriend, Kalpana (Asin) was murdered in front of his eyes (this is the saddest part of the movie), and he was hurt in the head.

He can remember the villain, whom he will be looking for fiercely in the second part of the movie..and of course, being a Kollywood production..we will be able to watch his victory over the villain(s) at the climax with help of Chitra (Nayanthra).

Alright, enough about the movie..the subject i really want to talk about is the core of the whole story: "SHORT TERM MEMORY LOSS".

In Ghajini, Sanjay will not be able to remember anything beyond 15mins, and he is well aware of that. So, within the 15mins, he will photograph anyone/any place/anything he thinks important and will use that photographs to identify them/the place/the things later..He jot down each and every important events that happens..He tattooed his body all information about the villian (as you can see in the picture below).

What will you do if you are suffering from short term memory loss? How you think it will affect your life? Will you be photographing people/places like Sanjay did? Or..do you have better ideas? Share them with me...

Just Friends..

Thursday, July 21, 2005

Couple of weeks ago, i brought this book in MPH...the title and synopsis certainly caught my eyes..Here, i am sharing with you my thought about it..

This story is about Jack and Freya, both of them who were 'just' friends for a good 10 years only to find that they are made for each other after going through numerous failed relationships..the whole idea of this story is to show that THE ONE for you might be just sitting beside you at the moment, or the one who will be sharing a great video cd with you this evening..and..men and women can NEVER be just friends..

So, after finish reading this book, i ask myself: Can two person of opposite sex be JUST friends?

Difficult to answer...as far as i am concern, a guy and a girl definitely can be just friends, if they want it that way..Yes, i am not denying the fact that many friendship ended up in marriage, but at the same time, you must agree that not all friends we have at the moment will end up as our life partners..There is always a platonic love in friendship, but should or shouldn't it be transformed into passionate love?

Okie, let me ask the question to myself..am i attracted to any of my male friends...hmm..probably :P While i admit that attraction towards a male friend is there, i do maintain close and pure friendship with the others..but then, i am wise enough to know the difference between mere attraction and love :)

Friends will hold you up when you are down; friends share your sorrow and rejoice in you happiness...Its very easy for us to fall for a person of the opposite sex who showed us that they care...but we must always remember that a true love not only comes when we see their 'good' side, also when we are able to tolerate their minus points..

There is a fine line between friendship and love, which anyone tend to easily cross..crossing it is not a crime, doing it at the right time and to the right person may pose some complication :)

One word of caution: think carefully before you make a move, that is what i am exactly doing now :)

Ending this with a poem Joe Vieira:

Sometimes I feel sad and sometimes I feel blue
but whenever I see you, I'm as happy as can be
for you bring a smile upon my face
and a feeling of joy within my heart

You're like my sunshine in the morning

and my stars that glow at night

You're like the waves in the ocean
the cool breeze in the wind
like the call of the birds in the morning dew
like the sounds of beauty in the night

You see all of these things are of beauty
and love
that's how I feel whenever you are near for it was the passion
and desire from both of us
that opened up the world
for our eyes to see
for our love of each other will grow and grow
and our needs and desires will be more everyday

For a friend you once were and will always be

has turned into love as it should have been

so I want you to know as a friend and lover
that in my heart and arms
you'll always stay
for our love for each other will never fade.

The Core of Batman..

Thursday, June 16, 2005

Image Hosted by imagehosting.us

After about 2 months, i manage to spare 3 hours to watch a movie "Batman Begins"..and thanks to Dj`Swetha of ThendralFM for being kind enough to keep me accompanied throughout this movie..Nandri :)

Not going to narrate the story..not going to review the story..i am merely going to pin point one core aspect of the whole batman series..'To fight your fear and injustice'..

Do you fear of sumthing? Do i feel fear of sumthing? Yes, certainly we do..I did came across a website called Phobia Fear Release which outlined all the phobias they could actually name..

What do i fear most?? Here's the list goes...

  • Fear of insects..kekeke..a bit childish though..i fear of all sorts of insects..even though my fren, usha used to say "Hey, u r thousand times bigger than that tiny creature, gal" (in the movie, bruce wayne fears of bats :));
  • Fear of certain people...i remember growing up fearing my primary school Maths teacher...still remember my uncles and aunties who used the rattan to threatened me with whenever i didnt finish up my homework...still remember the fear i had towards a bus conductor who was a sex-maniac;
  • Fear of failure...this one..hmm..failure in exam, in life, fear of making mistakes in even simplest thing i do..they all haunting me even as i am typing this..
  • Fear of friendship..a series of backstabbing...a long list of friends who let me down in the crutial part of my life...a list of friends who were lost, swallowed by time..causing me to fear any new friendship which i am about to make..no bound of friendship can make me feel safe and secured anymore..
  • Fear of trust..hmm..this one..as i mentioned in previous writings...i fear to put my trust on sumone nowadays..Difficult not to trust...fear to trust...so, i am rather caught in a dillema..but then, remember Fox Mulder's famous quote??? TRUST NO ONE
  • Fear of love...i guess this is no surprise..a relationship which got me into halucination..into a world of wonder..into a jeopardy..wouldn't i fear this 'pure' feelings?? can anyone blame me for that??

Thats the fears which i could single out at this point of time..

and what i can do for overcoming these fears?

As Thomas Wayne will say, " Why did you fall down? To Stand and Continue Living.." (well, more or less, that is what he said :D ...

Stand up against ur fears..continue with ur life...
